I started CrossFit in 2011 while stationed in Okinawa Japan. My friend J wouldn’t stop pestering me to try it. I honestly thought CF was a ridiculous way to workout. However, when I saw him destroyed fifteen minutes later (as a jacked and fit dude), I figured I’d give it a shot. I figuratively died in my heart and mind and never wanted to do that again. Immediately my mind went to this place where I internally shouted “no.” I decided I was going to come back tomorrow and crush the next workout. Long story short, I did “not” crush that next workout and I have been hooked ever since. I got my L1 shortly after that. I then got my Olympic lifting, gymnastics certification and eventually my L2 as well. My favorite part about CrossFit is Olympic lifting and the challenges that CrossFit presents in every WOD and the demands of constant growth no matter how fit or strong I get.
